Google Pixel 5 is launching in Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, and Taiwan on October 15, with a launch in the U.S. and Canada to follow on October 29. The phone packs 128GB of storage, though interestingly a higher storage capacity version isn't available, and the Pixel 5 doesn't support microSD cards to expand that capacity further.

- Reverse wireless charging support
While previous Pixel models have been flagship positioned, Google has changed direction slightly. The Pixel 5 moves onto Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G hardware rather than opting for the flagship SD865 or SD865 Plus. The SD765G hardware integrates 5G but is much more affordable.
There's 8GB of RAM onboard, along with 128GB of internal storage. You won't find microSD for storage expansion either.
There is a jump in battery capacity compared to the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, with a 4000mAh capacity in the Pixel 5. Both wireless charging and reverse wireless charging are on board.
In terms of biometrics, the Pixel 4 offered face unlock but no fingerprint sensor. While Soli made for great seamless unlocking on Pixel 4, it wasn't great for design and the other features it supported was a little gimmicky. As mentioned above, however, Google has returned to a simple rear fingerprint scanner for the Pixel 5.

Design
- 144.7 x 70.4 x 8.0 mm,
- 151g
- Made from 100% recycled aluminium
- IP68 rating for water and dust resistance
The Google Pixel 5 features a brushed aluminium body and it comes in Just Black and Sorta Sage colour options. It offers IPX8 water and dust resistance and it comes with a coloured power button like all previous Pixel devices have done.
On the rear, there is a square camera housing in the top left corner that features two lenses and the flash module, while a physical fingerprint sensor sits in the middle of the back.
The front of the Pixel 5 features a punch-hole camera in the top left of the display, allowing for a bezel-free design. USB Type-C is present at the bottom of the device for charging.

The Pixel 4 has a 5.7-inch display, while the Pixel 4 XL has a 6.3-inch display. There is only be one size of Pixel 5 however, this time coming with a 6-inch display, so it's quite a compact device and one that sits in the middle of its predecessors.
This display has a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels (432ppi), uses an OLED panel with a 19.5:9 aspect, and supports HDR.
Google also sticks to the 90Hz refresh rate that appeared on the Pixel 4 models. As mentioned above, there is also a punch hole for the front camera.

In terms of camera specifications, there is a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 107-degree field of view. The second lens is a 12.2-megapixel lens, with an aperture of f/1.7 like the Pixel 4.
There's an 8-megapixel, f/2.0, fixed focus front camera.
Google continues to offer features like Night Sight and the ability to capture the stars, with more improvements and features appearing on the Pixel 5 including an HDR+ with Bracketing, Night Sight on Portrait Mode and Portrait Light, among others. So sticks to the 90Hz refresh rate that appeared on the Pixel 4 models. As mentioned above, there is also a punch hole for the front camera.

The Pixel 5 is one of Google's first 5G phones, alongside the Pixel 4a 5G, allowing it to take advantage of faster data speeds. In Google's presentation, the company demonstrated the benefits this speed increase means for downloading videos and streaming games over Stadia. But one of the Pixel 5's best 5G-related features is how it can extend that signal to other devices, using its 5G hotspot feature.
The Pixel 5 supports millimetre-wave 5G as well as sub-6GHz 5G, meaning that it'll deliver slightly faster speeds than LTE in most of the country and exponentially faster speeds in metro areas.
